ABSTRACT

Offshore wind can allow coastal countries the possibility to meet their renewable energy goals, without getting in conflict of land usage. When floating offshore wind technology is employed along challenging shorelines, suitable anchor solutions are essential ensuring the position keeping capability of floating structures. Depending on the anchor solution and environmental conditions, scouring need to be considered at the design process. Existing studies have observed scouring for surface piercing structures, but not for fully submerged geometries in offshore regions. This paper shows the results of scour investigations on fully submerged basic geometries under wave influence. As basic shapes a cylinder, a cube, a hexagonal cylinder and pyramid are chosen and discussed in the following chapters.
