ABSTRACT

Offshore wind energy is the most promising renewable energy for the future. Most of the developed countries are investing many resources in wind energy because of they are a cost-effective way to generate clean and sustainable energy. The number of offshore wind turbines is increasing due to the advantages with respect to onshore ones. Maintenance planning plays a key role in wind power systems management, and to set the best maintenance strategy becomes an integrated and complicated optimization problem consisting of more than one objective and constraints. A technique for optimizing the maintenance cost in wind turbines via a Genetic algorithm is presented in this paper to maintain acceptable levels of power generation and optimizing the performances of the wind farm.
