ABSTRACT

Hybrid renewable offshore platforms is a trend in our days. In this sense has been several European projects that combines wind, waves and others. One of these hybrid configurations is obtained by combination of wind and wave energy, which allows higher production of electric power. W2Power platform combines offshore wind and wave energy in a semi-submersible floating platform. The work presented in this paper has been developed within the ORPHEO project (Optimization of the Profitability of Wind and Wave Energy Hybrid Platforms), and as a relevant result, we present a structural analysis of the leaning tower of W2Power platform subjected to the efforts derived from an enhanced PID controller of the pitch system of the NREL 5MW wind turbine. In addition, buckling analysis, static and dynamic analysis, and fatigue analysis using the dynamic loads from the PID controller have been performed.
