ABSTRACT
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus, termed COVID-19 by the World Health Organization, has created a global health crisis. The greatest challenge faced by the world in this fight is the contagious nature of this disease. As it is rightly said, technology is the key to dealing with every problem, so it is no wonder that the use of drones has rapidly increased in recent months, since they provide undoubted advantages in social distancing and confinement. In today’s time, drones have a dozen of advantages and can be used to carry out many errands such as delivering medicines, collecting medical test samples, recording huge infected areas, and thus helping the people of those areas to reach out through the mass media, delivering general needs to people residing in restricted areas, monitoring the public, and many more. This chapter will be dealing with a comprehensive review of the topic drawing from various reliable sources. In addition to the direct health implications, the study will draw light on the socioeconomic impact of the technology globally. Drawing things to a close, the chapter discusses and explores more about the technologies that deal with drones to help reduce the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
