ABSTRACT

Currently, data analytics and mathematical models are used to facilitate decision making for industrial and service operations worldwide. The impact of analytics has boosted other management initiatives like lean six-sigma, customer segmentation for resource optimization, pattern identification, classification strategies, and forecasting. For instance, optimal inventory management, logistic control towers, analysis and forecasting of sales and operations for higher revenues and customer satisfaction, and consumer behavior modeling are areas being impacted by analytics. Data mining and cleansing techniques, together with data analytics, allow the extraction of valuable insights from the data to support the decision-making process. Analytics can support the construction of these indicators in computational times, enabling companies to improve productivity, visibility, and a long-lasting competitive advantage.
