ABSTRACT

In the last two decades, organizations have increased their expertise in capturing, collecting, and storing data from their customers, operations, employees, and competitors. However, it is not enough to have data. We have to analyze this data, and this analysis can be a problem since organizations have to make essential investments in resources. This chapter introduces the concepts and the needs of data analysis. In addition, it provides the history of data analytics, its utilization in organizations such as universities, and the current platforms to start data analytics projects.
