ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the design of a cloud based social app. Being able to undertake actions based on desired goals is difficult when the job that is to be undertaken is unknown to a user. To bridge this gap, a platform where it is easy to ask questions will go a long way. In this chapter, an approach has been presented to make a user interface (UI) design prototype which has ease of use and end user satisfaction. To begin with, a conceptual background is provided to facilitate understanding of trends that have emerged over the decade, the modern trends. Also provided are the basic principles to be followed to create an attractive and user-friendly UI. This not only helps to build a UI but also generates a prototype which is easy to navigate. Based on the feedback, overall success is measured for the prototype and suggestions are sought at the end. The survey helps to understand how effective and productive the implementation can be, based on the prototype provided to its users. The phases include identification and observation of the users, their corresponding problems and understanding the purpose. These broad requirements are then converted into user requirements and a questionnaire is designed and distributed to get started with the survey process. Design scenarios are created with the help of conceptual models and wireframes. This results in a mockup design. The mockup is tested on the basis of a questionnaire about ease of use and helpfulness, in order to measure the user experience and overall user satisfaction. Suggestions are also sought from users to understand the shortcomings of the prototype.
