The roles of nurse and paramedic within the police custody setting in the United Kingdon is reviewed with practical examples These rules generally apply to all police settings although there may be local variation. The nurse or paramedic working in custody is an autonomous practitioner working within the boundaries of their clinical competence, and so their roles may vary according to their clinical background and experience.
