ABSTRACT

The pandemic situation of COVID-19 has been increasing the use of information technology services, including telemedicine. People conduct online consultations with physicians through websites or mobile health applications. One of the popular telemedicine service providers in Indonesia is Alodokter. This paper aims to investigate people’s activities to do the online consultation through telemedicine during this condition. We use big-data analytics methods, especially text mining, to analyze health consultation data in the Alodokter website from January to April 2020. The results show there is an increasing trend of online consultation activities related to Corona or COVID-19 topics during March 2020 when the Indonesia government started to limit people’s activities outside the home. Unfortunately, this trend did not last the following month, where the number of consultations also declined overall. This research has a practical contribution to telemedicine providers for improving their services and a theoretical contribution to user behavior studies.
