ABSTRACT
This book is the result of a symposium entitled “Conservation Biology of Freshwater Crustaceans” held at the Ninth International Crustacean Congress in May of 2018. The book provides an overview of the conservation status and knowledge for a myriad of crustacean groups typically not addressed in conservation planning. This chapter introduces the symposium, its aims, and the resulting research, presented in the subsequent chapters.
