ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the developments of various nanomaterials such as organic-based (dendrimers, liposomes, polymers); inorganic-based (metal and metal oxides, quantum dots); carbon-based (carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, graphenes); and composite-based (multiphase, hybrid) nanoparticles for agricultural applications. The design, synthesis, properties, characterization, and application of the nanomaterials will be discussed, including the trends, opportunities, and challenges on nanomaterial design and synthesis. In addition, perspectives regarding the social and ethical repercussions of nanomaterial uses in agriculture are provided.
