ABSTRACT

The use of antiviral finishes on surfaces and personal protective equipment (PPE) could potentially limit viral transmission. Research on antiviral finishes is still limited as novel antiviral mechanisms are discovered. Viruses differ widely in characteristics and this makes antiviral mechanisms difficult to identify. In this chapter, various antiviral systems were investigated such as nanoparticles, polymers, chemical compounds, natural oil extracts, and the mechanisms by which these operate.
