ABSTRACT

Mobile games, a continually growing sector of the video game industry, possess a unique approach to storytelling, mainly because a typical mobile game story is created for the casual user. The author delves into the nuts and bolts of casual game narrative and its differentiators from console game narrative. At the same time, there are many components and best practices of good story that console games and casual games share; the author explains these elements in detail. The author also provides solutions, suggestions, and firsthand insight when it comes to tackling creative challenges inside a contemporary mobile games studio and preparing oneself for their first job in the industry.
