ABSTRACT

This chapter briefly introduces the laminated sandwich flat panel’s characteristics subjected to blast loading scenarios for structural design in the weight-sensitive industries (aerospace, automotive, marine, etc.). Various solution techniques proposed in the recent past are summarized to show the accuracy and prediction of blast-loaded laminated sandwich panel responses. The current finite element simulation model for the laminated sandwich panel subjected to blast loading is carried out using the commercial tool Ansys. The plot of deflection–time history of plates is obtained and compared with the earlier results. The geometrical parameters associated with the sandwich panel (side–length ratio, side–thickness ratio, boundary restriction, load type, and core-to-face thickness ratio) have been varied and exposed to the blast loading and the influences on their transient response are underlined.
