ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic was identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. The unfolding of the COVID-19 pandemic demanded information sharing with the global medical physics community. Thus, the MPWB board organized a global webinar aimed at medical physicists to describe the experience from colleagues impacted by COVID-19. This chapter summarizes the organizational process, subsequent follow-up, lessons learned, and the potential impact on future directions. Milan has a very strong medical physics profile and was one of the cities with the highest incidence of COVID-19. There is global interest in the issues related to the medical physics response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The MPWB webinars provided an important global forum for sharing information. The timing of the webinars was such that many medical physicists were still addressing organizational issues related to COVID-19 and, hence, were very interested in how others had addressed these issues.
