ABSTRACT
The International Organisation for Medical Physics (IOMP) is the world’s largest professional organization in the field of medical physics. The mission of the IOMP is to advance medical physics practice worldwide by disseminating scientific and technical information, fostering the educational and professional development of medical physicists, and promoting the highest quality medical services for patients. IOMP has a strategic plan that will be updated in every term. The current plan for the 2018–2021 term is available on the IOMP website. The current term of the IOMP Executive Committee and the period of validity of the Strategic plan have been extended to June 2022 because of COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed medical physicists’ professional life. Professional societies have an important role in taking stock of a variety of publications appearing in literature and form the position of the society on such issues.
