ABSTRACT

Users’ continued use of mobile government (m-government) applications is essential for deriving the benefits of m-government services. For multi-ethnic inhibited multilingual regions, the kinds of the language on an m-government application are vital for its acceptance. To investigate whether and how users’ satisfaction with the kinds of the language on m-government applications—a special emotion, referred to as language satisfaction (LS)—would influence the continued use intention, I developed a research model on the sequential relationship between LS and m-government continuance intention. Empirical results based on the data collected from Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China (abbreviated Xinjiang) demonstrate the proposed research model. The results reveal that LS indirectly positively related to continued use intention of m-government users through users’ cognition of the language-related attributes of m-government applications, implicating the importance of the language used on an m-government application to the adoption of the m-government in a multilingual region. Based on the findings, language policy suggestions are proposed to enhance the ethnic minority citizens’ continuing adoption of m-government applications in Xinjiang.
