ABSTRACT

The development of trans-cultural cognitive competence is the basis for the cultivation of communicators’ trans-cultural competence. With reference to professor Ren Yuhai’s study on trans-cultural cognitive competence, this paper constructs the training model of trans-cultural cognitive competence. Firstly, through the comparison and contrast among multi-culture, cross-culture and trans-culture, the paper illustrates definitions of trans-culture, trans-cultural competence and trans-cultural cognitive competence, respectively. Then, it designs the training model of trans-cultural cognitive competence in foreign language teaching, which consists of knowledge instruction, classroom practice, critical thinking and innovative practice, aiming to train the new international talents who will be able to transcend the cultural boundaries and have successful interactions with people from other cultures.
