ABSTRACT

This article discusses a survey of non-English major college students and the effective use of English Salon activities to develop teaching methods for intercultural communication competence (ICC). This study identifies problems students may have developing ICC. The paper also identifies applied teaching methods which can overcome the educational deficiencies associated with non-English major students. By the use of student engagement activities, non-English major students can increase their language learning and develop their intercultural communication competence. The paper also identifies various teaching methods and activities which can be used to cultivate and promote intercultural communication competence.
