ABSTRACT

Remote sensing is the process of collating information about an object or event on a small or large scale using real-time sensing devices such as aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, buoys, or ships that are not in direct touch with the target. Remote sensing and geographical information system (GIS) are powerful tools that are very important in every area of human endeavor over which geographers are very proud. On the other hand, the GIS helps analyze the trends and estimate the changes that have occurred in different biophysical and socioeconomic systems that help in the management of the decision-making process. This research work is based on the published literature from various sources. This chapter aims to review the latest research on remote sensing and GIS for assessing the changes in Earth’s system dynamics.
