ABSTRACT

Healthy infants and children typically follow a predictable pattern of development; therefore, growth can serve as a sensitive marker for the health and nutritional status of a child. Pediatric growth can be divided into three distinct periods: infancy, childhood, and adolescence. Key growth parameters, including weight, height, and head circumference, should be trended over time and assessed against standardized data for age and gender. Additional anthropometric and body composition measurements can supplement a thorough nutritional assessment.
