ABSTRACT

The gut microbiota contributes to host health by performing roles in host nutrition, metabolism, immune modulation, pathogen colonization resistance, intestinal epithelial development, and even energy homeostasis. Though the overall health situation of the host and the contribution of intestinal micro-biota have been a popular area of research, yet there are numerous gaps to be filled and the exact mechanisms are yet to be found out. This chapter intends to provide an overview of the influence of diet on gut microbiota and interventions on the modulation of gut microbiota.
