ABSTRACT

Reconfigurable antennas are capable to change their frequency, polarization, or radiation pattern as per the system requirement. In this article, a review of various types of reconfigurable antennas using variety of techniques is presented. Mostly reconfiguration can be achieved with the help of various types of switches which can alter shape and size of antenna and hence its different functional parameters (frequency, polarization, or axial ratio). Due to reconfigurability, the antenna can be used for multiple applications which reduces the size and cost of the system. Such types of antennas found their application in UWB, cognitive radio, MIMO, satellite communication, etc.
