ABSTRACT
THIS CHAPTER PROVIDES an overview of web-based energy information systems and demand response systems. We begin with an overview of various types of systems, followed by a description of past literature on these technologies. We then provide a discussion of the market for EIS and DR systems in commercial buildings. We also introduce the concept of “web-based EMCS” to describe web-based building control systems. Each individual type of EIS is described in detail. The layers of technology are characterized as well.
