ABSTRACT
THIS CHAPTER IS ABOUT ways in which a web-based information and control system can enhance a facility’s operations. It introduces the concepts involved in developing a web-based control system, and presents the view that using a modern, web based system results in doing more with more, rather than doing more with less. Significant advances in using these web based information and control systems are associated with more access, more flexibility and more interoperability. Benefits of wireless access and of open systems are also discussed.
