ABSTRACT
THE ADVENT OF THE ANSI/EIA 709 control standard, internet protocol (IP) based networks, and SOAP/XML web services has opened the door to a new generation of open, interoperable control systems. These systems leverage LANs, WANS, and the internet to deliver higher reliability, more vendor choices, lower life-cycle costs, and more flexibility. Seamlessly merging the worlds of data and control allows facility owners to gain deeper insights into the operation of their facilities, better analyze and manage their buildings, and better leverage their capital investments.
