ABSTRACT
THE BUILDING TUNE-UP (BTU) is a process in which building heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and the energy management system (EMS) are analyzed and optimized for improved performance and energy efficiency. The BTU process is also known in the industry as re-commissioning or continuous commissioning (1). Although difficult to predict for a single building, facility energy savings resulting from a BTU can be expected to be between 515%. Thus, the BTU is one of the most cost-effective energy conservation projects available to an energy manager.
