ABSTRACT

THE DATA THAT ARE reported from an EMS (energy management system) can be very useful in managing system operations. This chapter describes some methods of presenting this voluminous amount of data in such a way to make it easy to manipulate, using a web-based information system. Typical EMS reports include data trending, alarm reports and EMS system activity. Most EMS on the market today do an adequate job of collecting the data but a poor job of publishing and presenting the data to a wide audience. In the past, the EMS was the only system that could access and display the data collected. Only a few people in any one organization could turn this raw data into something meaningful. Today, using the internet/intranet to publish data or its derivatives is becoming more popular. Sharing EMS data with others, perhaps across the globe, is a reasonable expectation. Simply put, the internet has changed the way we share data
