ABSTRACT

The Merck Rahway site has grown substantially over the years, and has progressed through the various control technologies of pneumatic systems, electrical systems, and finally into DDC and web based energy information and control. As the site control requirements grew, and the maintenance and operational staff got smaller, there was only one solution—adopt a flexible BAS system that would allow remote monitoring and alarming of all HVAC and building control systems. An Andover Infinity BAS was installed at the site, and was modified and expanded over a period of several years to monitor and control the building systems in over 100 buildings at the 150 acre site. This web based system has allowed the small Rahway site staff to adequately monitor and control all of the important HVAC and lighting systems for the campus of buildings. The purpose of this chapter is to describe this web based system, and to describe its operation and its benefits to the Rahway site.
