ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the strategies and options involved in upgrading an Energy Management System (EMS) from a stand-alone PC-based workstation into a network-based client/server EMS. The benefits of upgrading are described to help users justify the additional costs required. The concepts presented should be able to help users understand what questions to ask and what options they might consider when moving their EMS to the next level.
