ABSTRACT

Energy resources with their utilization and performance in any activity/service that is delivered to the customers are playing the most significant role besides the applied technologies. This role for energy mangers means the importance of energy and how to improve the facility performance from the energy utilization and management point of views as well as the activity/service technologies. Then, all factors affecting the energy management must be considered such as the impact of energy prices, policies, financial mechanisms, standards, programs, and the incentives.

The high wave of new web-based technologies as well as the information technologies is empowered the need for energy information and control solutions. This is encouraging the technology merging in many activities and showing the interlink between the existing energy management programs and the new proposed technologies. The author in this article does his best in order to propose an updated concept for energy management that is entitles as “total energy management program”. The components of this program are demonstrated in a simple form that can help facility energy managers to improve their facility performance in a way where cost savings can be achieved. Moreover, the description for the components of the web-based technologies and their interconnections with the total energy management programs are presented showing the merits of such implementation and the barriers which are encountered.
