ABSTRACT
Smart and Final warehouse food stores teamed with Honeywell Building Solutions to develop and implement an energy strategy that includes a sophisticated energy information and control system. The system incorporates satellite-based data collection of detailed operational measures, centralized alarming and control, standardized local overrides, centralized energy use analysis, maintenance dispatch and a systematic approach to benchmarking, analysis and investments for efficiency improvements.
After the initial pilot phase, this system is being rolled out to all stores and has delivered annual energy savings of $2.3 million, utility bill error savings of $60K/year and operational and Accounts Payable savings of $750K/year.
