ABSTRACT

An energy and cost savings calculation system (ECSCS) based on highly accurate MVNL load forecasting technology has several practical uses. This chapter describes ECSCS applications, gives example uses of the technology, provides a brief overview of the ECSC system, and identifies system problems commonly encountered. The comparative energy report shows gross energy consumption differences between the reporting periods and the reference periods after having been adjusted by the MVNL process. Hence, the comparative energy report gives a good idea of the savings by reporting on the energy reduction alone in the comparative energy report. The comparative energy report conceivably could be run and distributed weekly or monthly to keep tight watch on the progress of the conservation measure, while the M&V annual energy and cost report-because of the additional step required to collect and verify utility rate information-could be distributed one-to-four times per year. Accurate energy budgeting and tracking can be elusive at times.
