ABSTRACT
Internet of Things (IoT) is a very trendy word these days. The nomenclature has originated from the combined effects of IoT’s using the field of Internet i.e. Network of networks, the research field of sensor networks, and the field of cloud computing. In this area of research, certain physical objects are considered from the IoT field of study, like the Internet of Things consists of heterogeneous objects of everyday use, that is, things, somehow connected with each other and that pass on valuable information from their environment to and receive instructions from another object and, if an object needs attention, will trigger event generation without any human involvement whatsoever. Hence, the different platforms that the devices are mounted on provide the best results to fulfill the basic necessity of all the applications running on the devices. This chapter highlights the field of IoT with every possible details like its components, or the importance of the field of IoT. The chapter goes on to present a framework of IoT network which is an extremely complex task given the need to join various types of devices on a single network, and then, the chapter highlights some of the related applications of IoT.
