ABSTRACT

The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic has proven to be catastrophic to the lives and livelihoods of many all over the world. As the vaccines being developed are still in the testing phase and their long-term effects are yet to be studied, officials are resorting to precautionary measures. Among these are applications for contact tracing and similar applications. In this paper, we studied Covid multiple mobile applications based on the implicit and explicit features and studied the limitations of each application. Additionally, we have also highlighted the different types of architecture used by these applications. A thorough comparison of some of these applications has been discussed in the paper. The shortcomings of the applications such as cyber-attacks have also been warned against. Moreover, we propose the design of a smartphone app that is equipped with cough-sample-based Covid-19 detection and is also capable of monitoring the physiological symptoms of Covid-19.
