ABSTRACT

Vehicles in VANET communicate through dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) protocol. VANET mainly contains roadside unit (RSU), on-board unit (OBU), and trusted authority (TA). OBUs embedded in vehicles facilitate communication with other vehicles and RSUs. TA acts as a trusted third party and helps in registration of vehicles and malicious identification. VANET serves as an application of intelligent transport systems to improve driver’s safety by exchanging traffic information between vehicles and infrastructures. Here, we propose a secured lightweight key distribution protocol for VANET using elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman (EC-DH) for V2X communication in VANET. The AVISPA simulation results prove the inability of the intruder to eavesdrop on the messages.
