ABSTRACT
This chapter covers our emphasis on cloud and IoT integration, which is what we refer to as the cloud-IoT model. Many literature works have separately surveyed cloud and IoT and, more specifically, their primary resources, characteristics, underlying technologies, and open issues. However, these works lack a thorough study of the current cloud-IoT model, to the best of our knowledge, which includes entirely new applications, difficulties, and issues of analysis, and we examine the fundamentals to close this distance. We explore their complementarities, detailing both IoT and cloud computing, and what is presently leading to their incorporation. Finally, in this area, we define open problems and future directions that we expect to play a leading role in the future Internet landscape.
