ABSTRACT

The self-made SR particles and SBS (Styreneic Block Copolymers) particles were used as combined modifiers to prepare high viscosity modified asphalt (HVA modified asphalt) for porous asphalt pavement. The properties of HVA modified asphalt were characterized by conventional tests including penetration, Softening point, ductility, Brinell viscosity and aging, and compared with SK90 matrix asphalt and rubber asphalt and SBS modified asphalt. The results show that compared to the matrix asphalt the HVA modified asphalts with the high softening point and 5℃ ductility, and low penetration; the dynamic viscosity of HVA modified asphalt reached 230000Pa•s and with moderate Brookfield viscosity which can effectively coat large void asphalt concrete and the asphalt concert do not need much high construction temperature. Dynamic shear rheological test and bending beam rheometer test showed that HVA modified asphalt has good cohesiveness and aging resistance, and exhibits good high temperature stability and low temperature flexibility. The HVA high viscosity modified asphalt prepared in this research can meet the requirements of asphalt materials for porous asphalt pavements.
