ABSTRACT

To evaluate the performance of steel bridge deck pavement (SBDP) reasonably and accurately, an evaluation model of SBDP was established in this paper. Firstly, through typical distress investigation, the effect of different distresses on the SBDP performance was studied. Then, evaluation indexes of SBDP, were proposed based on their effects and existing evaluation indexes of highway pavement. Next, computing models for each index were established and their weights were determined through Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Delphi Method. Lastly, the Wuhan Baishazhou Bridge was selected as case study to evaluate the established model. Result shows that this evaluation model can assess performance of SBDP efficiently and provide reasonable maintenance guidance for the management department.
