ABSTRACT

Different structural schemes of epoxy asphalt long-life pavement were studied. Finite Element Method was employed to calculate the mechanical responses of the long-life pavement under the cases with different epoxy asphalt layer and thicknesses. The results showed that the epoxy asphalt mixture layer can reduce the vertical compressive strain of pavement and improve the anti-rutting performance as well. In most structural schemes, the maximum tensile strain of the asphalt layer maintains at around 80 micro strain. Considering the maximum horizontal tensile strain of the asphalt layer, the vertical compressive strain at the top of the subgrade, the anti-rutting performance of the pavement, the Scheme B is recommended for the epoxy asphalt long-life pavement structure, and the performance will be better if the total thickness of the asphalt pavement is greater than 22 cm.
