ABSTRACT

This chapter elaborates the idea of Smart Parking Management System (SPMS) aiming to fit into Society 5.0 using the computational intelligence-based smart systems. These systems can ease the situations prevailing in today’s society related to the parking and other issues in context to it. From the existing population today, people in greater proportion value time as much as money. One can see in many cases that exist around us that people can spend more money for execution of a particular task in order to save time if possible. Human aims at leading a stress-free peaceful life full of technology where there is less involvement in operating the machines around us; rather, these machines can self-understand the situational requirements varying from person to person and could help to make environment around us adaptable for us, and those machines could self-configure them. One such situational requirement is an effective, organized parking management system that can help solve all the stressful situations of a driver while driving their vehicle like prejudging the existing parking scenario in their desired destination, especially when it’s not a part of their daily routine and they have gone there occasionally. Identifying the best parking slot and finding the best possible route can not only ease the situation but also save fuel and time. The initial section of this chapter is the study of the work that is carried out till date in this regard with some comparative analyses based on regions and their prevailing technologies. The middle section of this chapter aims at identifying some gaps and scopes of improvement in the existing study, and the later part deals with possibilities to fill the identified gaps by proposing new algorithms. The Energy-Aware Trust-Based Secure Routing Algorithm (EASTRA) is discussed in this chapter for route discovery and Firefly Algorithm (FA) with Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-based algorithms for route optimization.
