ABSTRACT

Coronavirus has impacted the world, and this infectious virus has pushed the whole world to take security measures, in order to decrease the spread of Coronavirus 19. Despite these potential negative effects of the virus on the economy, it has had a positive influence on the environment. Air pollution has decreased after the lockdown. This chapter evaluates the degree of atmospheric pollution for a period of one year before, during, and after the propagation of the Coronavirus in Africa, based on 5 P Sentinel satellite images that show a clear reduction in the concentrations of these parameters due to the imposition of urban lockdowns and restrictions on factories and industries, implying that air quality in Africa improved significantly during COVID-19.
