ABSTRACT

With the advancement in the technology in the field of medical sciences, which promotes the detection and treatment of various diseases, nanotechnology has gained the attention due to its size which ranges in nanometer and makes it suitable to reach at the target site and showing the action on that particular target site only. Nanotechnology involves the preparation of various nanostructures such as nanorobots, nanosomes, dendrimers, nanovesicles, nanoemulsion, etc., which entraps the drug inside them and thus prevention the drug degradation too. From all the nanostructures, nanobots are the emerging nanoelectromechanical device which is used for the imaging, detection, and the treatment of the diseases. Nanobots are the smart nano-sized robotic system, designed to perform the specific task with higher degree of accuracy and precision. With the help of this approach, the targeted delivery of highly toxic anti-cancer agents is achieved without affecting the normal tissues. A microprocessor is fitted inside the nanobots which help to direct and to control the motion of nanobot inside the human body, thus making it suitable for clinical use. The current chapter features on the nanobots, its applications in target drug delivery, treatment of various life-threatening diseases such as cancer and the future of nanobots.
