ABSTRACT

Education is conceptualised in various forms, namely formal, informal and non-formal. All these forms of education point to the generation of knowledge and how the same knowledge could be applied in addressing challenges communities face, such as those related to flooding. This chapter will describe the devastating impacts of floods, which in recent years have taken the world by surprise both in frequency and impact that has surpassed drought. This chapter, while attempting to explore various forms of education, also seeks to address education as a tool for flood risk management. Furthermore, it illuminates education as a critical player in building a flood-resilient generation to flood risk in developing countries.
