ABSTRACT

The impact of coronavirus is contributing day by day in destroying and affecting the lives of people worldwide, resulting in great number of deaths daily and also disturbing the lives of human beings both physically, socially, mentally, financially and psychologically too and is believed that more case will emerge once the lockdown is uplifted, even though some countries have emerged successfully from the pandemic, still India is under the community transmission stage once the lockdown is lifted. A Public Health Expert and an Epistemologist says that “India may witness the highest number of cases in the month of July once the lockdown is lifted due to strong containment measures as the country is at lower trajectory in terms of COVID-19 deaths as compared to other countries”. The number of cases keeps rising every day for the simple reason that more people are being tested now than before. Mercifully, the number of daily deaths is increasing rapidly, millions of people have been displaced, lakhs of businesses are shuttered, all schools closed, restaurants and hotels shut, and millions are without jobs or any means of sustenance. The poor have been hit like never before and the middle class too will soon begin to crumble. Crores of children are corralled with unimaginable psychological adverse effects, domestic and child abuse that largely goes unreported must be substantially elevated. These matters are well known but not actions are being taken by the government. Most public health doctors state the fact that a lockdown if needed must coincide with the peak incidence of cases; it should never be imposed too early or too late. It must be put in place at the time of peak infection. Therefore in the present chapter, an attempt is being made to explore the impact of coronavirus in our day to day lives with regard to works, public places, use of transportation, social gatherings, reopening of school and colleges, people resuming their work, gatherings in market and restaurants, etc. The study is an exploratory mixed method study exploring the impact of coronavirus in our day to day lives by collecting the responses of individuals through the Focus Group Discussion. As it would not be possible to invite the participants physically for the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), on online interview will be scheduled to explore the perspectives of undergraduate students in terms of COVID-19 along with its effect in their day to day lives and the study aims to invite 12-13 participants for the same as an ideal FGD needs to have good amount of population for data collection in order to generalize the data on the common population. Further, in order to collect the data a semi-structured interview schedule will be constructed, the questions of the schedule will revolve around the impact of COVID-19 in our day to day lives. The study aims to analyze the data or responses of the participants through the mixed method approach of both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Content Analysis will be applied in terms of qualitative approach and correlational method in terms of quantitative approach.
