ABSTRACT
The author, Dave Reed, has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his years of contributions to composites in automotive shares his observations for the growth of composite applications through the years. This perspective from the eyes of the OEM enumerates a few of these successes and how the composites sector is focusing on continuous fiber-based technologies to provide lighter, more cost-effective solutions. The author will discuss these innovations with some case studies and demonstrate the improvements made and gaps in the technology that still have to be overcome.
