ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the author will discuss the philosophy and methodology necessary for the successful development of composite materials. The focus is based on the utilization of a scientific method to troubleshooting and problem-solving, leading to the creation of solutions to old challenges as well as inventing new materials to advance the industry. This requires a dedication to understanding the sciences basic to composite materials, a clear definition of the objectives and desired outcomes, and an absolute commitment to the collection and analysis of solid data. These elements will be considered and offered as a foundation for building a strong team and a robust material development roadmap.
