ABSTRACT

In medical applications, image data used to collect during the patient imaging process are obtained either by patients who suffer from a disease or by a normal screening processes. With the command contour in MATLAB, the delineating of organ boundaries in images is achieved. Volume visualization in Nuclear Medicine consists of a method for extracting information from volumetric data utilizing and processing a Nuclear Medicine image. Volume rendering images mainly are used in 3D SPECT images for example in 3D myocardium, kidneys, thyroid, lungs, and liver studies. There are several other commands in MATLAB's Image Processing Toolbox that give the volume rendering. Another option to visualize Nuclear Medicine data is volshow; a volshow object with properties that control the appearance of the display is creating. In many studies, it is reported that the volume of an organ has a decisive role if the organ has an abnormality.
