ABSTRACT

The detector, amplifiers, and PM tubes are housed in the detector head, which is mounted on a stand. Data acquisition and processing of the data are carried out by the computer. Magnification or zooming can be applied, whereby the pixel size is decreased by a zoom factor. The basic nuclear medicine acquisition is the static planar view. Digital images represent the count density in regions of interest in a target. In dynamic studies, a continuous series of images is acquired over time, in order to watch the time course of the radiopharmaceutical, because in this way important information about the functionality of an organ can be provided. The gated technique is characterized by continuous acquisition of data in multiple sequential images in each cardiac cycle by gating between successive cycles. The process of data projection acquisition is affected by a number of factors. Count or information density is an important factor which estimates the number of counts per pixel.
