ABSTRACT

Selection of an appropriate imaging modality and interpretation of radiological images are key skills for a sport and exercise medicine (SEM) physician. A station devoted entirely to radiological interpretation is unlikely in an SEM objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), but it is highly probable that images could be presented as part of a clinical station. This chapter will cover some of the basic principles of radiological reporting and interpretation in the context of musculoskeletal medicine. It will then present some of the key musculoskeletal ‘spot diagnoses’ and differentials not to miss.
